We people from Flanders, who are we? Do we have an identity which separates us from the dutch, French, German and maybe even the Waloons or are we just one mixed race. Through the years Flemish people had to fight for soil and language. They somehow have a weird habit of building fences around their self build houses in the search for more Independency. We like to say we are a hardworking and hospitable people. With a few cliches taken out of the air one can not define an entire race. Basically it consists of a small piece of land separated in small villages where the inhabitants build their houses in what way they decide it is the most beautiful around the majestic church tower. Is it bad to not have a specific identity? Isn’t variety a good thing? All kind of people with mostly one similarity we need to see other people and where other than in our bar on a bar stool.
